Ricardo Filipe Alves Martins received his M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2008. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student and researcher at the ISR-UC under supervision of professor Jorge Dias and professor Miguel Castelo-Branco.

As member of Artificial Perception for Intelligent Systems and Robotics team (former Mobile Robotics Laboratory), he has collaborated as a researcher on the European Projects PROMETHEUS (October 2008-July 2009) and HANDLE (February 2009 – January 2013). Before joining Mobile Robotics Laboratory in 2008, he has participated in several other research projects: European projects and University-SME (Small and medium enterprises) technology research collaboration projects. Since January 2014, Ricardo Martins is also researcher at ICNAS-UC (Institute for Nuclear Sciences Applied to Health – University of Coimbra).

His research interests are robotic grasping and haptics, multimodal perception, artificial perception, machine learning and neurosciences.

Former PhD student at ISR, completed in 2017 Universidade de Coimbra: Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal 2017-05-01 to present. Currently Postdoctoral researcher (PhD) (Faculty of Medicine)
